Training was going great once I got back from vacation. Then, the dreaded cold. IN JULY! Seriously!?! I believe I got it at the gym from someone who didn’t wipe the machine down or from the weights I was using or perhaps it was because my hands were on the floor while doing an exercise. It could have been from the guy in the sauna that sat next to me and said he woke up with an ear infection and didn’t feel well. WHY COME TO THE GYM THEN?
It’s okay. Maybe getting it now means I won’t have to deal with being sick later in my training which I’m all for. I ran 12 miles on empty last week in 1:51. Not too shabby for an empty run. I have incorporated these runs into my training to train my body to tap into other sources when fuel isn’t available. The key is to fuel immediately after an empty long run. I don’t do all of my runs on empty. I do these runs once a week.
Training with my trainer is going well! I am now up to lifting 320lbs. on leg press, which I think is pretty amazing. I can’t wait to see if I can lift more. Leg day is definitely my favorite day. I have noticed a difference in my arms and shoulders and my jeans are tight in the quad area. Good excuse to go shopping!
This weekend calls for 10 miles. I will be running it on Sunday instead of Saturday. I’m hoping it goes well and that my cold is gone by then. I will be working on staying out of my head. I tend to let self-doubt and negative thoughts creep into my head and it sometimes makes for a pretty rough run. Not this weekend!
Happy Running!
